less influential

I’m not selling you anything: I’m just a storyteller with a platform.

The summer of 2026 is about half over as I write this and kick off this new attempt at a running blog as just another voice in the chaos.

And I get it: there is a good chance that you have stumbled upon this site without much context and mixed in among a million social feeds full of running influencers, sports bros, sports pros, thirst-trap running accounts, sports nutrition gurus, speed maxxers, AI running slop, and any variety of pay-to-play training program hustlers.

What the hell is some middle aged Canadian dude who spends half his time injured and the other half trying to hold a small suburban run club together doing giving you running content?

So, here’s the deal.

I’m just a guy.

I have another little blog nearby where I write about machine intelligence (ie AI) in a human world, posting in a similar daily-ish fashion about algorithms and social media and the waves of technology that disrupt our humanity.  In other words, my personal brand is “real” and my motto is keeping your hopes and hobbies centred on this planet—in the world, in nature, and on the real trails that all of us can join in on.

I’m not selling you anything: I’m just a storyteller with a platform.

And running not only changed my life, it continues to shape and reshape who I am and how I interact with the world.

I’m gonna write about that okay?
