Some Notes

I’ve been writing about running for approximately one day less than I’ve been doing the actual sport.

(A long time!)

Writing Notes

Sadly, while I’ve written a lot about running, I’ve never really had a dedicated running blog, just a site all about running—at least not a website that has had much focus nor stuck around for any length of time.

My most recent attempt was close: I built a curated information-based site full of interconnected thoughts on racing, training, and running community… but it was hacked about three years ago and held ransom for a bunch of bitcoin—and fuck those guys—and all I was left with was a handful of database archives that I’ve never taken the time to properly untangle and repost.

This new site is an attempt to both remedy that loss of history, but also to write some new thoughts down as I creep up on my twenty year anniversary of being a runner. I have a lot to say, and a lot of interesting tales and takes from the trails, all of it is muddled up with some deep and philosophical thoughts about the sport, life, and everything.

I’ll expand this page later with more useful information, but for now it is mostly just here to tell wayward websurfers who may stumble upon a pretty sparse collection of content the deal: that I have been queuing and slowly releasing content for my launch. That just happened at the start of August 2026. Patience, as they say, is a virtue.

I’ll be posting something every weekday, Monday through Friday, with a goal of at least two hundred words per post—but definitely not limited to that. I queue up posts a week or two ahead of them going live, so that means two things: first, occasionally I’ll write about something that just happened when I wrote it, but you won’t read it for a week or two, and second, if I suddenly stop posting on a weekday that means I’ve been missing for over a week and you should send help! (Or something less tragic.)

Connect with me on socials for updates, or bookmark this site.

Warning NOTES

Now for some important caveats: I’m probably going to write stuff that comes across as running guidance. Read this very important note:

This is not advice.

I’m not a doctor. I’m not certified. I’m not here to give you advice.

I’ve been running casually through ups and down, around the world, and for the simple fun of it for nearly twenty years and I know my own body and I do regularly consult with experts about my training and my health.

Running is a real sport with real risks to both your personal health and your safety. You can break something. You can get lost or find yourself in trouble out there on the trails. It’s rare, but yes: you can literally die. People have literally fucking keeled over and never got back up. It happens. We think about that and keep running.

I write here for entertainment only, these are personal observations, anecdotes posted to tell stories for other people who may enjoy reading about the sport and for people who are following plans and advice from actual professionals, not a random dude on the internet. Me? I’m a random dude on the internet, so yes, share and enjoy what I post, but take it for what it is. Storytelling.

Be safe out there.

CONFLICTING Notes

On that note, this is just a blog. Opinion. Anecdotes. Thoughts. Cursing.

I’m just one guy sitting in a cafe sipping tea and telling stories.

If you disagree with what I post, and you occasionally will, that’s ok… but then keep in mind I’m just a guy writing fluff about a sport he loves and overthinking many of the parts of it in the same way I’ve been overthinking it for the last twenty years. Your experience may vary, so either leave a friendly comment in that spirit… or move along. Blogs are cheap, platforms are ubiquitous, so go make your own if you have something that you really, really need to get off your chest.

This is very much a private space and your “rights” to post anything on my site neither exist nor apply any more meaningfully than I would need to tolerate someone yelling at me inside my own home. That is to say, I reserve the right to delete comments, limit access or control anything or anyone that I don’t think belongs here… without warning or recourse.

Play nice.

Social Notes

I use automated plugins I’ve downloaded or built myself to send updates out to social media. We live in this new AI controlled web where search engines can’t even be trusted to connect people to small little websites like mine, so the only hope I have is that links will show up in your feed. I tend to spam updates there because I would forget to do it otherwise and I’m not primarily focused on hanging out on social media.

That is to say there is (a) a good chance you got here from a social link and (b) an equally good chance it was automated and I may or may not be monitoring it with the rigour you might expect. If I don’t reply to something you wrote on Threads or Bluesky (the only two platforms I actually even use with something resembling regularity) or wherever you tried to engage with me, I apologize but maybe try commenting or just waiting. I’m probably out running.
